(0:02) You will hear a phone conversation in which a woman talks to a public transport official (0:08) about something she has lost. (0:10) First you have some time to look at questions 1 to 4. (0:34) Hello, City Transport Lost Property, how can I help you? (0:39) Oh, hello. Yes, I'm calling about a suitcase I lost yesterday.
(0:46) I don't suppose I'll get it back, but I thought I'd try. (0:50) Well, some people do hand lost items in, so you might be lucky. (0:55) Let's put the details into the computer.
(0:58) OK. (0:59) Right, so let's start with a description of the suitcase. (1:05) OK, well, it's small and it's the type you can pull along on wheels.
(1:11) How about the colour? (1:13) Yes, it's black, but not exactly plain black. (1:17) It has some narrow stripes down it, sort of grey. (1:23) Actually, no, they're white now I think about it.
(1:26) OK, I'll just add that information. (1:30) Now, were there any items inside it? (1:34) Yes, I had a big bunch of keys in there. (1:38) Luckily, my assistant manager has an identical set, (1:42) so she's going out this morning to get some copies made.
(1:46) So therefore your office... (1:49) That's right. (1:50) My house keys were in my pocket, thank goodness. (1:54) Anything else? (1:56) Erm, there were a lot of documents, but they're saved on my laptop anyway, (2:03) so they don't matter so much.
(2:06) But the thing I'm really worried about, (2:09) I mean, I haven't even taken it out of the box yet, (2:12) is a camera I just bought. (2:14) That's really why I'm calling. (2:17) I can't believe I've lost it already.
(2:20) I see. (2:21) Well, let's hope we can find it for you. (2:25) Was there anything else? (2:27) I don't think so.
(2:28) Any credit cards? (2:30) They were in my handbag, (2:32) and I had my passport inside my jacket pocket. (2:38) Before you hear the rest of the conversation, (2:41) you will have some time to look at the questions five to ten. (3:14) Now listen and answer questions five to ten.
(3:20) Money? Clothing? Any personal items? (3:25) Oh, let me think. (3:28) I had an umbrella. (3:29) It was black.
No, blue.
(3:32) But obviously that isn't as important as the other things. (3:35) No, but it all helps us identify your property and get it back to you.
(3:41) Anyway, I don't think I'll be able to get it back to you. (3:42) I just need to ask you for some basic details about your journey. (3:47) So it was yesterday, was it? (3:50) That's right.
In the afternoon, around 2pm, maybe 2.30.
(3:56) OK, so that'd be May the 13th. (4:00) Yes. I was heading to Highbury.
That's where I live.
(4:04) All right. And you mentioned a passport, I think.
(4:09) So you were coming from the airport, I presume? (4:13) Yes, and I was looking forward to getting home so much (4:17) and what with being tired and everything. (4:20) I think that's why I just forgot about the case. (4:23) And how were you travelling when you lost your property? (4:27) I mean, what kind of transport were you using? (4:31) I thought about getting the train, (4:34) but that would have meant a bus journey as well and I couldn't be bothered.
(4:38) So I decided to take a taxi eventually. (4:41) That's where I must have left it. (4:44) Well, that's good news in a way.
(4:47) It's more likely that a driver would have found it and handed it in. (4:52) I hope so. (4:54) Well, I need your personal details now.
(4:57) Can I have your full name, please? (5:01) Yes, it's Lisa Docherty. (5:03) I'll spell that for you. (5:04) It's D-O-C-H-E-R-T-Y.
(5:11) Thank you. (5:12) And next, if I could have your address, (5:15) the best address to send you the property if we manage to locate it. (5:20) Sure.
It's number 15A, River Road.
(5:24) And that's Highbury, as I said. (5:27) Thank you.
(5:29) Just a moment. There's just one final thing. (5:33) That's your phone number.
(5:35) I guess my mobile would be best. (5:38) Hang on. I can never remember my own number.
(5:42) OK, I've got it. (5:44) It's 0-7-9-7-9-6-0-5-4-3-7. (5:54) Very well.
I think that's everything we need at this end.
(6:00) I'll have a look at the data. (6:05) That is the end of Section 1. (6:08) You now have half a minute to check your answers.
